I have had a free website on Byethost for over a year now and I'm happy with their service so far. No problems with the website or anything.

Byethost website down for over an hour, no hosting sites are working from them.
Did the UK just have a power outage?

2/10 - I give Byethost a 2/10 because my sites are online about 20% of the time. Where they get their 99% uptime must be with dildos in their assholes because it's definitely not referring to web servers.

Byethost Resellers Cheating.
Just only a few months, then trust me you can login to the control panel again. There's is no link to recover password.
So we can control our profit again. Not recommend to choose this reseller services.

At lease they have free hosting but I don't like them. They calculate inode and sometime they redirect to their ad

This is no hosting site; all they do is spam me with the same email over and over again, don't ask me why because I have no fucking idea.
Also I can't get the hosting to work; what I put on it doesn't matter. All it does is redirect to google syndicates so there is no way in hell anybody can access it.
I've had this before and they solved it because there was something wrong on there part and now it's there again, stupid hosting :S

I joined byethost as a spur of the moment thing. I wanted a host, and their offer looked unbelievable; 50gb transfer, 1 gb disk, for free. Wow? I've been with them for 2 (yes two)days now, and I'm so frustrated with them that I will be (attempting to) remove my account tomorrow. Their FTP is slow, PHP over restricted, and script installer poorly configured and updated. You register a username, but to access anything you need your on server id, which is a pain in the arse. This cannot be changed.
The actual server is pretty good, page loading is fast. Not google fast, but pretty decent. The server it's seiculties running the CMS application I was using (PHP) . Disk space and bandwidth wad ample for most uses.

The host's customer service is no more than you can expect from a free service. You can submit a support ticket via the panel. The responce is surprisingly fast, and the tech team are actually helpful. I have seen no evidence of underhand sales tactics, or selling on your data.
Summary:
+ actual server.
/ support so far
- host side user panel and ftp client. (This is a big downside)
IMO: DO NOT USE AT ALL.

I tried their services for Shared hosting, they were down for over 1 day after my account got activated, they stuff so many people on there servers and boast that they have superior hardware... phish posh... please, check out my log and decide for yourself if you want to deal with these swags. Lots of flowers and pretty techno babble but no money where there mouth is.

I tried myownfreehost about a year ago. They are a child company of byethost. I did not like the poor services. They advertised cPanel and it was vistapanel. They also would trade clients email address to third party marketers and denied it. While canceling the support tech at byethost was very rude. He did not want to cancel the account. I then requested him to remove "All my information" from the entire system. After many contacts in byethost support system he finally said it was removed entirely. I still receive emails from sales@byet.net. "No way to unsubscribe"! This is so not cool! I want my email address removed completely from they're entire system. Also any third party marketers that byethost offers my email address to. They just disregard any attempts I make to remove my information. I'm starting to think they just don't know how. The truth is they will not. They most likely make money by trading it.
